Dr. Kirmani opened his private practice in Austin to use his breadth of experience serving the Central Texas community. He grew up in Houston and graduated from U.T. Austin and U.T. Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his psychiatric residency program in New York City at Beth Israel Hospital and spent several years there leading the Psychiatric Emergency Department as well as joining a busy private practice in mid-town Manhattan.
Dr. Kirmani relocated back to Texas to join U.T. Austin's Counseling and Mental Health Center as Staff Psychiatrist before opening MHWA. In addition to seeing private patients, he provides psychotherapy supervision for psychiatric residents at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.
