Dr. Kirmani opened his private practice in Austin to use his breadth of experience serving the Central Texas community. He grew up in Houston and graduated from U.T. Austin and U.T. Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his psychiatric residency program in New York City at Beth Israel Hospital and spent several years there leading the Psychiatric Emergency Department as well as joining a busy private psychiatric services practice in mid-town Manhattan.
Dr. Kirmani relocated back to Texas to join U.T. Austin's Counseling and Mental Health Center as Staff Psychiatrist before opening MHWA in 2014. In addition to seeing private patients, he provides psychotherapy supervision for psychiatric residents at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.

Erica is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience caring for patients in a variety of clinical settings including primary care, women's health, mental health, and internal medicine. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Pace University in New York City and went on to obtain an additional Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the University of Texas at Austin.
Erica has extensive experience in the treatment and management of adult anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, and ADHD. She is particularly interested in and is pursuing further training in reproductive psychiatry as well as new and emerging treatments for mental health concerns. Erica approaches health from a holistic perspective and believes that well-being must include an awareness of and attention to the body and mind as well as the emotional and interpersonal lives we lead. Her philosophy is one of curiosity, acceptance, and collaboration. Informed by evidence-based treatments and current research, Erica works with clients to develop a plan of care that is effective, appropriate, and tailored to their unique needs. This plan of care may include medication, lifestyle interventions, and/or therapy.
